Ultratime 001: A Timepiece Inspired by the Universe

Ultraworks Redefines Time Reading with Spacecraft-Inspired Watch

Ultraworks, a multidisciplinary design unit based in Macau, introduces Ultratime 001, a unique timepiece inspired by the universe and spacecraft speedometers. This award-winning design combines avant-garde design language with radical ideas, creating a unique design experience and a timeless piece.

Bob Lei, Fever Chu, and Jay Chan, the creative minds behind Ultraworks, have a deep fascination with the universe. This passion led them to study the history of space exploration and incorporate these inspirations into their designs. The challenge was to create a watch with simple forms and neat graphic elements, a task they accomplished with Ultratime 001. The watch's design is a perfect balance of design and function, making it a timeless piece.

What sets Ultratime 001 apart from other timepieces is its attention to detail. The irregular arrangement of the numerals, presented neatly on separate hours and minutes discs, gives the watch a distinctive look. The team's dedication to creating a "mind-blowing moment" in daily life is evident in these unique features.

The watch's specifications include a 316L stainless steel case, a sapphire crystal glass lens, and a genuine leather strap. It is powered by a Japanese quartz Miyota 2034 movement and has a water resistance of 3 ATM. The watch's dimensions are 70mm x 280mm x 20mm.

The Ultratime 001 is a turning dial design watch with two circular discs for the hour and minute. Time can be read through a gold or silver line. The project, which started in May 2014 in Macau, took a year and a half to complete, with the team overcoming creative and technical challenges to refine the design and achieve a simple, clean look.

Ultraworks' dedication to innovation and attention to detail has not gone unnoticed. The Ultratime 001 was awarded Platinum in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing and advance the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
